A range of influencing factors ensures constant change in the VUCA world. Companies must adapt quickly to the changes and ideally use them as an opportunity if they want to continue to be successful over the long term. The core skill here is agility. But what factors determine the agility of an organization? And how does agility impact the performance of companies? There is little knowledge on this topic to date. This is why we investigated the issues taking a look at the automotive industry in a study which will be published shortly. We initially conducted qualitative interviews with experts from various OEMs and then developed a model. This model was reviewed in the companies by a survey of around 1,000 managers and employees.
By means of a network analysis we were able to describe and assess the interactions between different key areas of agility, as well as their effects on the company performance. The identified correlations and causalities give an indication of how individual activities can be bundled effectively. The study also provides insights into a number of aspects: for example, the level of agility in companies in the automotive industry or strategies for the further development of agility.
