- The potential: Artificial intelligence helps industrial companies to continuously make their production processes more efficient while simultaneously ensuring high quality. Several proofs of concept and pilot projects have demonstrated this.
- The challenge: The tested AI scenarios often do not translate into regular production processes. This is because the reality of the shop floor is much more complex than the laboratory conditions.
- Our approach: Together with Volkswagen and Porsche, we have developed ready-to-use AI solutions that make industrial production processes more efficient, data-driven, and sustainable. We identify potential areas for optimization directly on the shop floor, develop and test “out-of-the-box” solutions, solve critical challenges, and meet automation and digitalization needs in industrial production applications. We present these solutions and show how they can be integrated into existing processes.
Artificial intelligence brings enormous potential for automation, including for industrial companies and their production processes. There is no shortage of available data or the required technologies, and the extent to which AI really pays off has been impressively demonstrated by numerous proofs of concept and pilot projects.
Despite this, artificial intelligence has not yet been integrated into everyday shop-floor work. In our view, there are two reasons for this:
- Firstly, the situation in a real production scenario is much more complex than the assumptions made when assessing feasibility.
- Secondly, data science expertise alone is not enough – a deep understanding of processes is just as important.
That is why we have developed cloud-based AI solutions together with Volkswagen and Porsche that address individual production challenges and are ready for immediate use.
