The massive hacking incident on servers belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) that led to 500,000 sensitive records being stolen and the recent cyberattacks on the Ukraine are two of the latest examples to demonstrate that companies, public institutions, non-governmental organizations and individuals are all increasingly at risk from cyberattacks. Despite this risk, numerous companies in Germany still do not have a comprehensive method of risk mitigation. In addition, many companies have scope to improve how they respond to an incident once it has been identified.
These conclusions form part of the Cyber Security Risk Report 2021 prepared by MHP in cooperation with the State Criminal Police Office of Baden-Württemberg. The report includes qualitative expert interviews and a quantitative survey of 314 participants from a wide range of companies and industries. The report provides an insight into the cyber security measures currently in place but with potential for optimization and culminates in eight recommendations for action.
