Despite digitalization of industrial processes being a key element of the corporate strategy at most German-speaking companies, the actual implementation of digital concepts is not yet progressing with the expected speed or commitment.
To explore why this is the case, MHP has now published its fourth Industry 4.0 Barometer study in cooperation with the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). The study provides an important insight into the progress of digitalization at industrial companies in the DACH region. This year’s Industry 4.0 Barometer also covers China, the UK, and the USA for the first time ever. As part of the annual study, 776 experts were interviewed on the four topic clusters of technology, IT integration, strategy/goals, and drivers and barriers. This year, digital leadership and supply chain resilience are a key part of the study. In addition to an evaluation of the results, the study contains interviews with experts from industry and research and development, as well as success stories that showcase how Industry 4.0 solutions have been put to use.
During our MHPDeepDive “Industry 4.0 Barometer 2021,” we will present the key conclusions from our study. We will compare the digitization progress achieved by companies in the DACH region, China, the UK, and the USA, and discuss what factors have led to success. We will also look at the barriers to progress together, and offer some specific recommendations for action.
