Industrial companies significantly contribute to global CO2 emissions. The negative impact on ecosystems is becoming increasingly apparent – and can be seen, for example, in rising sea levels worldwide and a decline in biodiversity in many natural habitats. Many companies now recognize this challenge and are voluntarily adopting the 1.5 degree goal of the Paris Agreement. Even simple decisions can in some cases lead to a significant impact on the environment and costs. For example, product development determines whether products can be easily repaired and recycled later on.
For companies to make meaningful decisions, a suitable basis for decision-making is essential. That is why MHP has developed the “Zero Impact Products” approach. This is a holistic monitoring system that helps companies to combine cost effectiveness and caring for the environment in a meaningful way. For example, the carbon footprint of a product can be measured from the development stage to its manufacturing and use, right through to the end of its useful life. Scenario analyses also enable the effects of individual measures in the product life cycle to be systematically recorded and compared with regard to costs and CO2 emissions.
