IT as a strategic partner of the business units

Here's how BVG is approaching cultural change in the CIO area

Our world has been changing at a rapid pace for several years now. There are many reasons for this. Digital technologies are one of the drivers. And a decisive one at that. At the same time, digital technologies are often the enabler for mastering the new challenges and seizing the opportunities that arise. The prerequisite for this is that companies develop a high degree of agility and can adapt quickly to new framework conditions. IT departments have a key role to play here. They should develop into strategic partners of the business units.

The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) have also recognized this and initiated a corresponding transformation. MHP supported the company in this process: Together, we established agile organizational structures and processes based on a suitable mindset, taught helpful methods for a management of change, and launched an innovation-oriented learning culture. Importantly, the employees were involved in the transformation project with a high degree of personal responsibility - which significantly accelerated acceptance.

In our MHPDeepDive "IT as a strategic partner of the business units", we give you a detailed insight into the transformation of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe. Dr. Henry Widera, CIO at BVG, and Susanne Schuldt, Head of IT Strategy and Portfolio Management at BVG, report on their experiences and outline the results of the project. In doing so, they also address the special importance of employees for change management. Our MHPDeepDive takes place in the form of an interactive dialog. Participants therefore have the opportunity to ask questions and take part in the discussion.
