From Monolith to Modular

How MHP enabled Porsche to scale its global web experience

MHP x Porsche

Scaling the Porsche.com Experience

A Porsche should feel effortless — precise, responsive, and always ready to perform. The same expectation applies to the digital experience on PORSCHE.COM. This iconic website serves millions of customers across dozens of markets. Every new model, every local variant, and every product launch depends on it. However, the infrastructure wasn't keeping pace. MHP changed that.

Impact at a glance

  • Global product pages can be launched worldwide in minutes
  • Content and product updates can be published multiple times per day
  • New features can be delivered end-to-end within one sprint cycle
  • Product go-live publishing is automated; changes can be reviewed instantly via inline editing

The starting point: speed without losing control

Porsche had grown a complex landscape of multiple monolithic CMS platforms. Tight coupling between content and frontend slowed down iterations, created strong system dependencies and made design updates expensive.

At the same time, global markets require frequent product and legal variations. Manual updates and fragmented governance became bottlenecks. The core challenge was to accelerate delivery and improve quality without repeatedly triggering migration projects that stalled progress for extended periods.

The joint approach with MHP

Working in a SAFe environment together with Porsche and other partners, MHP helped establish a clear strategic baseline: composable architecture as the north star for porsche.com. By aligning architectural decisions and the product roadmap with this vision, Porsche was able to modernize step by step without pausing delivery.

What we built: a composable, API-first web platform

1) Modularity: composable frontend foundation

MHP broke down the monolithic frontend into modular components and moved to a modern, component-based web framework. This allows Porsche to evolve the experience in incremental waves. The Porsche Design System is integrated directly into this foundation, ensuring consistent UI and UX across touchpoints.

2) Flexibility: headless frontend, decoupled content

By separating content from the frontend architecture, MHP and Porsche eliminated structural bottlenecks and enabled faster iterations without triggering large-scale migration programs each time the platform evolves.

3) Automation: API-driven product integration

Product information is now integrated via API and automatically synchronized across platforms. This reduces manual effort, increases consistency and accuracy, and supports the complexity of Porsche’s international portfolio with its numerous legal and marketing requirements across markets.

4) Efficiency: lean workflows for global and local teams

Reusable frontend modules and an intuitive editing experience allow global marketing teams and local markets to efficiently manage content while maintaining governance and brand consistency.

Technology layer: Storyblok as enterprise headless CMS

Storyblok completed the solution with enterprise readiness for scalability, security, and governance. It adds intuitive inline editing and a robust developer experience. Its API-driven approach supports modern frameworks such as Astro and Next.js, speeding up delivery and reducing maintenance effort.

Result: a platform that keeps Porsche fast at global scale

The new architecture combines speed, resilience and flexibility. It allows Porsche to launch and update product experiences faster, maintain consistent design and content worldwide, and evolve the digital ecosystem continuously without being held back by monolithic dependencies.

“MHP pushed the architecture forward and took responsibility for making it production-ready. They helped us turn modularity from an idea into a working operating model. Porsche.com delivers on our brand like never before.”

Storyblok surprised us with

  • Enterprise readiness: A scalable, secure, and governance-ready platform suitable for global enterprise use.
  • Intuitive editing combined with lean technical integration: Editors can work efficiently with inline editing, while the platform’s API-driven architecture enables seamless integration with modern frontend frameworks such as Astro and Next.js.
  • Strong developer experience: Developers benefit from a flexible, modern architecture that accelerates implementation, reduces maintenance overhead, and enables rapid feature delivery.
