Monica joined MHP in 2015 as a financial expert for our subsidiary in Cluj, Romania. At that time, our Romanian office did not have the manpower it has today, leaving Monica as the only finance professional responsible for multiple business areas. But as the popular saying goes: “Diamonds are created under pressure”, Monica was able to grow with the challenges she faced. She is now the CFO of MHPRomania, leading the Finance, IT, Controlling and Business Excellence departments, as well as the Group Shared Service Center.
I do what I do / because numbers carry a deeper meaning than just figures.
My first routine at work are / Staying in touch with my teams, see how everyone is doing and make sure that optimism prevails.
My most often used tools / Excel and Powerpoint.
When I was a child, I wanted to be / a pilot.
My greatest talent is / empathic communication.
To me, a good CFO means / being able to translate numbers into stories, since they are a reflection of our company efforts and success, as well as describing their context to our colleagues, stakeholders and external partners. I believe that mutual trust and reliance among the team is indispensable to achieve this.
From my kids I’ve learned / to tackle every day with serenity.
I start the day with / checking the most important headlines of the Romanian and international market, and how these developments affect our business.
My biggest challenge in business is / leading my teams through the world of digital transformation.
My life principle is / staying dedicated to the things you love to do, regardless of the context.
If I can change something in the world / it would be to grant every child access to education. I consider it the foundation of our society.
In my spare time / I make my family first priority - valuing the time we get to spend with each other and learning from each other at every opportunity.
