Cloud

Clouds enable digitalization

If TV series are played on the tablet during a train journey or the infotainment system in the car is used to search for restaurants en route, then there is only one reason this is possible – the services are provided via a cloud and are therefore available at any time, in any place, and with any device. Clouds are therefore a crucial requirement for digitalization. Such comprehensive networking would be almost impossible without clouds. And: Cloud services are fast, flexible, and highly scalable.

Infrastructure, platforms, and software – everything as a service

The type of service provided via the cloud depends on the respective application scenario. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) allows companies to share computing power and to store data for retrieval by everyone at a later stage. Platform as a Service (PaaS) allows dispersed teams to work together on development projects. And Software as a Service (SaaS) offers the possibility of using applications irrespective of the location and device. Innovative digital services, including needs-based statements, for example, can be created with the combination of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.

The integration of clouds in the existing infrastructure poses new challenges for companies – numerous decisions need to be made. This not only includes the question of which existing services are shifted to the cloud or which new services can be created. The choice of the appropriate deployment model is key: Private Cloud, Public Cloud or Hybrid Cloud? This is all effected provided that comprehensive security is guaranteed.
