MHP RIESEN chalk up win against FCB!

In a sensational BEKO BBL playoff game, our MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg clinched a last second victory against FC Bayern Munich.

Ludwigsburg, 13.05.2014 – With a heart-stopping buzzer-beater, the MHP RIESEN won the nailbiting second game against Bayern Munich 85:83 to even up things at 1:1 in the BEKO BBL playoff series. Our RIESEN team will thus go into the third playoff game on Thursday, May 15 in the Munich Audi-Dome with greater confidence (tip off: 20:00). The match will be shown via livestream.
The 85:83 win in the second playoff game was, at the same time, the first victory ever of the MHP RIESEN over FC Bayern. The RIESEN played a great game in front of 4,500 fans in the sold out MHPArena.
Match-winner Coby Karl remained "cool" when asked about his winning basket just after the game. "I just love this team. It fights so hard for each other. This is not about me, it 's about the team", revealed the overjoyed American in the live interview on SPORT 1.
The third playoff has now become a key game after drawing level at 1:1 with this win. With an eye toward the match on Thursday, the MHP RIESEN trainer John Patrick had the following to say: "We started well in this game and are delighted that we have been able to draw level in the series. We already saw in the first game just how good Bayern can be in the third and fourth quarters of the game. It is, of course, a mental challenge to face the same opponent three times within a week. We have to be on top of our game and need to further improve our performance."

High-profile visitors at game 2
Yesterday's fantastic win by the MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg was cheered on by no less than John Stockton, NBA legend as playmaker for the Utah Jazz and two-time Olympic champion, who was there to support his son Michael for the game. Stockton "Junior" had an outstanding game, notching up a massive 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists!
The footballers of VfB Stuttgart also didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to catch a playoff game live in the MHPArena. Team capitan Christian Genter, defender Georg Niedermeier and goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum were there rooting - in their playoff T-shirts - for the MHP RIESEN and joined everyone else in the arena in almost blowing off the roof when the winning shot went in.

Game 3 in livestream
While game 2 was shown live in Sport 1, game 3 against FC Bayern will be available to view in livestream. The stream can be called on Thursday at and at Tip off is 20:00.

We are looking forward to the next RIESEN games!
