More agility through networked planning

Transparency and flexibility in volatile times

Political decisions, legal regulations, or a new virus – in a globally networked world macroeconomic factors have an ever greater and faster impact on companies. Therefore, such exceptional situations should be well anticipated where possible, possible courses of action determined, and different scenarios simulated. It is often different in practice. Specific IT systems for planning and control are not a general rule – and if they are available they often do not meet the requirements of the users. Instead, the planners and controllers often revert to traditional Office tools such as Excel. Also in a crisis: They calculate the effects of various alternatives spontaneously and under time pressure – a very error-prone project.

Modern planning and control systems are able to simulate various scenarios in advance or ad hoc, add or change variables quickly, and calculate the respective effects validly. This means that companies can prepare for crises on all levels at an early stage. But they also remain capable of acting in acute situations and can make sound decisions. An important prerequisite: So that the systems take into consideration all dependencies in the company, they must be integrated. A coordinated and consistent overall plan is created from a variety of subplans.

In our MHPDeepDive "More agility through networked planning", we show you how you establish an integrated, efficient, and user-friendly planning and control system using SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (SAP BPC) and SAP Integrated Business Planning (SAP IBP). You also find out how you link subplans from different areas of the company across all systems. For example, you can predict the sales under various assumptions and go through the effects on sales, production, and finance.

What awaits you in our MHPDeepDive:

  • You find out how you realize a modern planning and control system with SAP BPC and SAP IBP.
  • We show you how you combine subplans across all areas and systems into a consistent overall plan.
  • You find out how different scenarios can be simulated appropriately and how you make decisions for effective preparation.
