Apps for the iPhone, iPad or Android devices – homogeneous strategy instead of "patchwork quilt"
Apps for the iPhone, iPad or Android devices – mobile applications are currently a much discussed topic in the business environment. And there is a good reason for this as ultimately they allow users - even when they are on the go - to keep an eye on and control their business processes. Many specialist departments want to avail of the associated advantages and for this reason launch suitable mobile applications. This situation presents, however, new challenges for the IT department. On the one hand, suitable solutions must be found and implemented to satisfy the needs of the specialist departments. On the other hand, the mobile applications have to be integrated into the existing system landscape and defined IT stategy.
In light of the huge number of different technical platforms, devices and applications, what is important is to avoid creating a "patchwork quilt" consisting of a large number of isolated applications. The individual mobile components should, instead, be selected according to clear criteria and combined to form a homogeneous unit. What criteria should, however, be used for the all important decisions? The graphical design and operating concept is, for example, what is important for the users from the specialist departments. How a solution can be reliably integrated into the system landscape and coordinated with the targets of the enterprise architecture management (EAM) is, on the other hand, what mainly interests the IT department employees.
The question as to what is the right mobile platform is of key importance here. To be able to answer this in a substantiated manner, Mieschke Hofmann und Partner (MHP) has compiled a benchmarking of the available offers. We will present the results as part of the MHP forum "Mobile Business" on June 30, 2011 in Essen.
Experts from the solution providers Sybase and Adobe have also been invited to the forum where they will present their mobile platforms and strategies. We will touch on additional topics - such as the influence of mobile applications on IT governance - and present proven approaches as part of an interactive "walkabout", which will be in the form of live demonstrations and clear practical scenarios.
As a competent point of contact when it comes to the topic "mobile business", Mieschke Hofmann und Partner (MHP) offers you, with the MHP forum, the opportunity to exchange experiences with experts and discuss with decision-makers from other companies on the challenges currently being faced by the sector. The forum is oriented towards IT managers, management and project managers from the areas Logistics and Sales, who deal with the use of mobile applications.
