Expertise and IT in sync – co-innovations via business/IT alignment

<media 1565>> To event flyer</media>

Business/IT alignment as a flawless integration of the IT department in the specialist areas has, in recent years, been an important objective of companies. IT departments and specialist areas, however, are still not working together in an optimal manner. What are the reasons for this? The basis for a functioning alignment is the transparency of the IT decisions when implementing requirements or directives vis-à-vis the specialist departments. This is, however, only possible if the enterprise architecture management and the service-oriented IT organisational structure interact optimally with each other. A complex but necessary process. As highly complex platform "monsters", which devour a lot of time, money and quality, arise due to inadequate coordination and a lack of common understanding with regard to the requirements to be realised. An example, in this case, would be the ever-increasing integration requirements between ERP and PDM systems, which can not be controlled without a functioning business/IT alignment driven by IT.

Many medium- to long-term corporate goals, such as limiting the complexity of technology and system platforms as well as technology-driven innovation, can only be realised via dialog between the IT and specialist areas.
