Results of an empirical study
In most companies from almost all industries the processes in the finance division are still run manually to a large extent. The digitization level is very low compared to other departments. This is despite the fact that digital technologies give the finance division the opportunity to establish themselves as a management business partner and adapt business models to the new conditions. Finance processes should be digitized especially in the automotive industry, which is in the midst of a fundamental change. This is the only way the finance division is able to manage the important balancing act: continuing to ensure high profitability on the one hand and making available adequate resources for the structural change and growth on the other.
The new study "Digitization of the finance division in the automotive industry" conducted by MHP and the universities in Göttingen and Groningen reveals how far the digitization of the finance division in automotive companies has proceeded to date, the challenges the companies are currently confronted with and what possible solutions look like. 106 companies from the automotive industry in the German-speaking world were surveyed. A key finding: Half of the companies neither have a comprehensive digital strategy nor appropriate use cases for the finance division.
