How innovative technologies drive change
Situations such as the current crisis often lead to creative ideas in companies: For example, in order to enable employees from production and the shipping area to work together without direct contact. In the ARENA2036 research camp, face shields, for example, are manufactured on 3D printers and then transported to the shipping area with driverless transport vehicles (FTF). There are already some scenarios like this – however, very few companies use innovative technologies along the entire supply chain. End-to-end digitization and automation, however, lead to greater effectiveness and efficiency and therefore also competitive advantages. And not only in the crisis, but always!
In order to digitize the supply chain end-to-end, we recommend this procedure: Companies create a "map", on which they systematically map all useful application scenarios and the available technologies. It is worth examining the return on investment when deciding on a technology: How much does the innovation cost and how is it profitable? And: Especially for more complex automation scenarios, the gain in flexibility should also always be considered.
